The sun had set from the lands even well beyond the view of the mountain. It was replaced by darkness, save for the small light gifted by the stars and moon. Like any summer day the night would remain hot until early morning. It was more of a stuffy heat, one that did a good job preventing anyone from getting a good night's rest. This was especially including the green eyed brute, Nikia.
He hadn’t a place to call home at the time, washed away from it in an early spring avalanche. Though he was on the right trail to return, he had no place to rest the night. Finding a clear place he laid down in the soft grass. An hour had passed by as the lone wolf struggled to fall asleep, but he could not manage to shut his eyes in the heat. Summer was not all to blame, of late he'd been thinking about so many things. With a lot on his mind he could not find sleep that easily, heat or no heat.
There was a resistance at first but soon he was filling his head with questions as he gazed up at the stars. Wondering if anyone missed him like they failed to do with the fae that disappeared before him. Hoping that the brute that attacked him would not come to finish the job while he slept. Then wondering if he should even return. That was a big one that he could not explain. His green eyes continued to gaze upward as he lay in the grass, studying the differences in the stars above him. It was a small thing to distract his minds from his thoughts, but would it be enough to give him some sleep?

The night truly was beautiful tonight. It seemed like that stars were trying a little harder to present themselves in comparison to the bright moon. Their light caused the forest to glow a pale blue, lunar color...illuminating vegetation while causing their shadows to become even more mysterious. While beautiful, the night had an eerie feeling to it.
Sabbat made his was to the well known pass in the glaciers. It had been months since Sano left him, the one mate he thought was perfect for him. Though he understood, she still needed alot of questions answered about her past. That, required solitude. He looked up at the sky and thought solely of her, only hoping she wasn't in trouble somewhere desperately needing his help and care.
A slow sigh escaped the male's gentle body. His grey paws carried him onward and sorrowful, light greenish-blue orbs were kept alert. Another male was spotted a few feet from him, laying down, failing at getting some sleep. Why not? Sabbat thought to himself.
Slowly he approached the green-orbed male, making extra sure his posture was none of dominance nor a threat. His tail was held low as was his neck. Having trouble sleeping as well? he proclaimed to the fellow wolf, his voice deep, yet soft, almost as to not disturb the nightfall's peace.

At first sight the stranger brought up the defensive side of Nikia. He did not take a moment to confirm the wolf's identity before rolling around and shooting to his feat. Legs stretched wide as the front of his body slanted down, his stance was ready for anything. The hairs on his back stood up as if cued to the event taking place. Simultaneously a low growl was beginning to sound in the wolf's voice.
It was only after a moment that Nikia eased up on the defensive. Seeing the brute's coat confirmed that he could not be the ivory black brute. He eyes were not clouded like that devil wolf. After another moment of confirmation had passed Nikia finally settled down and took his place back in the grass. Realizing that this wolf probably expected a response sent the loner's mind rushing for words. What do you say after you mistake a wolf for an enemy? Should he apologize? No the wild was a cruel place, you'd die if you were not a bit defensive. He was never good at finding words, one reason why he kept his thoughts to himself.
Deciding to forget the first impression, he answered the wolf's question. "Yeah...well I have a lot on my mind." he said now looking back up into space. Somehow it seemed as the stars were growing all the brighter as the night continued on. Counterbalancing the darkness as it grew all the darker towards midnight. "How about you? Something wrong or is it the wretched heat?"

The male's sudden stance startled Sabbat. Maybe his stance wasn't submissive enough? It was obvious this brute was larger than himself, as was usually the case with him. Submissively, Sabbat backed away a bit as the fellow wolf growled. He felt like running, and almost did until he saw the male's obvious embarrassment. Perhaps he had mistaken Sabbat for another.
The small male slowly crept foreword a bit, then sat down...still with a good two feet between him and the wolf, just to be sure. A sigh of relief came as the male spoke to him in a non-aggravated way. Sabbat watched as the male observed the sky, maybe he had noticed how beautiful it was tonight as well.
The heat isn't as bothersome as my thoughts. Sabbat stated, sure enough answering his question. I didn't mean to startle you, I apologize...I mean no harm. he said, reassuring the male that no fighting would take place tonight. The moon slowly began to peak over the silhouetted treetops, painted black against the dark blue horizon. Night's uncertainty was as graceful as it was poisonous.
Sabbat looked up yet again to the sparkling orbs while he awaited a reply from the new male. All he could think about is what his future now held. Another mate? A pack? Who really knew. He only hoped his fear of dying alone would not come true.

It was not but a few moments before green orbs shifted back to the stranger. Nikia appreciated the reassurance for it was not something he'd been use too receiving in his adulthood. Especially now after his life crashed down leaving him all alone. He was well aware that he needed others, the life of a loner was not for everyone. Talking was not his best quality, but he did enjoy to listen to others. Comfort them in what way he could, or be comforted in return. It was just a few days but he already missed those things. If he did not return to his pack than what would he do, search for a new one?
"No...please don't be sorry. It's my fault, guess nearly being killed puts you on the edge." he said as his eyes traveled back to the stars. "Could be the last time I look at the stars like this, but I guess any day could really. Can't know what lies in our fates right." he said to himself, now trailing off into his own thoughts. Silence fell for a few moments as he picked out images in the stars. Nothing that special, it was more or less how pups would pick out what they thought some clouds were similar too. Small similarities that made no sense to anyone but the discoverer. "So what's on your thoughts then?...I mean if you don't mind me asking?"

He tore his gaze away from the particularly wonderful night sky to notice that his fellow comrade was also observing it. It was like, it called to them. He must have had a hard run in before he came in...first not sleeping and then being so startled by Sabbat's entry. He could only sympathize for him...being a loner was hard, but it mostly payed off Sabbat presumed.
I'm just thinking about the fae that was once my mate. She left to discover her past, and it wasn't my place to be with her I guess...I dunno, it felt right to me, but love has to be mutual. he said, a short sigh following his lyrics. Sano's beauty put this wonderful sky to shame, but Sabbat realized he must move on. Dwelling on the past can only hurt you.
